  • Commuters claim the kettle bears a striking resemblance to the Nazi leader

Retailer JC Penney may want to rethink the design of its new kettle after a series of customers have complained that it looks remarkably like Hitler.

The retailer announced the new kettle – which is exclusively available in its stores – on a huge billboard above the 405 Interstate Highway in Southern California.

But rather than being tempted to buy new kitchen equipment, commuters on the road near Culver City immediately remembered Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.

Several motorists took photos of the sign, which is about 10 feet high and 36 feet wide, and posted it on Twitter with their opinions on the kettle’s resemblance to the WWII dictator.

Jim @scplanetable tweeted: Every time I see that JC Penny billboard with the teapot, I keep seeing Hitler. Seriously, the thing looks exactly like Hitler. 405 S, man. ‘

Proving that the billboard may not be the best advertisement for the retailer, another commuter, Benari @benarilee tweeted: “Uh, no thanks, JC Penny. I don’t think I want your HITLER teapot .

Other social media users added that they dreaded thinking about what the store’s pressure cookers should look like.
