Kohima, May 18 (EMN): The Manipur-bound truck stuck on National Highway 29 between Kohima-Dimapur could not be removed as scheduled at midnight on Tuesday.
The overloaded truck, which got stuck in the mudslides near the Peducha steel bridge, has hampered traffic in recent days.
Following on-site inspection by Kohima Deputy Commissioner Gregory Thejawelie, Area Admin Team led by SDO Sechu Zubza and NHIDCL on Tuesday, SP Kohima was instructed to organize a team to tow the truck before midnight, but it could not be done as planned.
The SDO (civilian) Sechü Zubza Tiayanger told this newspaper on Wednesday that the empty trucks, to which the goods from the overloaded truck would be transferred, had arrived on site late, and therefore the work had been postponed until Wednesday.
However, “the clearing of the roads and the filling of large potholes were carried out at midnight (Tuesday), for which all vehicle traffic was stopped for two hours, from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m.”, he said. let it be known.
He added that the truck will be removed by Wednesday evening as traffic cannot be stopped during the day.
Kohima DC issues travel advisory
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima has issued a travel advisory, advising the public that vehicular traffic will be suspended on two road sections – Chainage KM 155 (Steel Bridge Area) of the Kohima-Dimapur 4-lane road ; and from Sechu Zubza Police Station to Peducha Checkpoint (Green Hills Restaurant) – between 00:00 and 02:00 from 20 to 27 May.
He said it was necessary “in order to remove clogged soil and rock debris resulting from a landslide/landslide and affecting traffic along NH-29 at Peducha/Zubza.”
