Review of Delhi-Jaipur Section of National Highway 48

The pace of maintenance works on the Delhi-Jaipur section of National Highway 48 from Delhi to Dharuhera has been reviewed by senior transport officials.

Road Transport and Highways Secretary Giridhar Aramane and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Chairman Alka Upadhyaya visited Delhi-Jaipur section of NH-48 from Delhi to Dharuhera and supervised works 24 hours a day to improve the condition of the road.

The secretary gave an update on the state of the highway and ordered the contractors hired by NHAI to complete the work as soon as possible.

The repair and reconstruction works of the 225 km long Gurgaon-Jaipur expressway have been awarded to three contractors, who have already been mobilized to undertake the repair works on a priority basis.

One agency has been contracted for the 64 km portion of Haryana and the 161 km portion of Rajasthan has been assigned to another agency for faster construction.

A third contract was awarded for the construction of 15 new structures to solve the frequent problem of traffic congestion on the highway. The cost of all these works is Rs 913 crore.

Critical locations like Vartika flyover, Rampura flyover, Dharuhera, Masani have been repaired and progress on other locations in Haryana part is accelerated.

The NHAI Chairman, while reviewing the progress of maintenance work, advised constructing appropriate diversions including widening service roads to ensure smooth traffic flow before construction of the structures begins.

The issue of waterlogging and the need for proper drainage for industrial waste from Bhiwadi was also discussed and Secretary Aramane requested state government officials to make coordinated efforts to resolve the problem.

The Delhi-Jaipur National Highway is an important link between the national capital and the state capital of Rajasthan for the socio-economic connectivity of the two cities.

Maintaining this section is a high priority for NHAI and it is doing everything possible to ensure a safe and smooth journey for commuters.
