Centers Grants National Highway Status to Eleven PA State Highways

The state government was once again successful in gaining state highway status granted to major “state highways”. The central government has notified 11 state highways in the state as national highways and the length of these highways is 872.52 km. The YS Jagan government has proposed to the Center to give the status of national highways to 31 other highways in the state.

Since the YSRCP came to power, the Center has identified 11 state highways as national highways. The state government has taken steps to develop the main roads and convert them into highways. The government has also sent proposals to the National Highways Authority of India asking it to recognize national highways with heavy traffic as national highways. To raise this matter with the Centre, CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy called Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and recently discussed the matter.

To this end, the central government has issued an order assigning identification numbers to these roads. In addition to this, 31 other national highways have also been approved in principle to be recognized as national highways.

Roads connecting major ports under construction, connecting other major cities and neighboring states were given the status of national highways. Thus, the conversion of national highways into national highways not only provides seamless connectivity but also helps to stimulate the creation of infrastructure and industrial development in the state.
