Bradenton man killed crossing US 301 in Manatee County, Florida Highway Patrol says

A 31-year-old Bradenton man was hit and killed by a car as he crossed an intersection along US 301 in Manatee County on Saturday night, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal collision happened at 10:23 p.m. at the intersection of US 301 and 15th Street East.

A Bradenton man driving a sedan was traveling southbound in the left lane of US 301 and struck the pedestrian as he crossed the freeway intersection.

The unidentified Bradenton man was pronounced dead at the scene, FHP said. Traffic investigators are trying to determine if the man was in the crosswalk at the time of the crash, Trooper Gregory Bueno said in an email on Sunday.

A 37-year-old man from Bradenton drove the sedan, and a 37-year-old woman and 15-year-old girl, also from Bradenton, occupied the passenger seats. None of the car’s three occupants were identified and each suffered minor injuries, FHP said.

The accident is still under investigation.
